Balmain stabbing: Police probe as man fights for life

A man is fighting for his life after a stabbing in Sydney’s inner west on Saturday.

Just after 3.30pm police were called Donnelly St in Balmain after reports of an assault.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered stab wounds to his torso and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Police say officers were told that the man was stabbed during an altercation with two men.

Police are searching for the two men who fled the scene in a car.

Officers are also investigating links between the incident and a burnt out car which was found in nearby Five Dock soon after.
