Mandy Moore Opens Up About Her Failed Marriage With Ryan Adams I Was So Lonely, So Sad

It sounds like the actress, and her ex did not have a happy marriage at all! As you may be aware, soon after The New York Times published a shocking expose about Ryan Adams, Mandy Moore showed support to the victims of his alleged abusive behavior.

That being said, only a few days later, the star is once again speaking out against him, detailing their former marriage and how miserable it made her to be in it.

Moore was a guest on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, and while there, she got candid about her career in Hollywood as well as her relationships and other personal things.

Pitchfork reports that the podcast episode was in fact recorded before the shocking article was published but looking back at what Moore stated, it all seems to add up!

Besides, this is not even the first time she opens up about their troubled marriage, but this time, she went into more detail.

Adams and Moore tied the knot in 2009 and finalized the divorce back in 2016.

The actress claims she felt like the ‘mother in the relationship.’ – ‘I was living my life for him.’

This, of course, was very ‘unhealthy’ since it seemed like Moore had no ‘sense of self. I was just imperceptible – So small in my own world.’

She went on to recall that ‘I felt like I was drowning. It was really untenable and unsustainable, and it was so lonely. I was so sad. I was so lonely with him. I knew that this was not the rest of my life. I knew that this was not the person I was supposed to be with, I knew I was not that person I was meant to be.’

Her career also had to suffer during their marriage since ‘His controlling behavior did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a really pivotal and potentially lucrative time—my entire mid-to-late 20s.’

Moore even claimed that her ex would often tell her that she was not a ‘real musician’ since she did not play an instrument.

When she did try and work even on small projects in the music industry, things would just get tenser at home!

Thinking back at the time they were married, Moore could only say it was ‘dark.’

She truly felt ‘lonely’ and like there was no room for anything else in her life except for her husband.
