Sonnalli is very consistent when it omes to exercise. "My fitness mantra, which I tell everybody, is that you have to have some sort of physical activity every day. If you decide to go to the gym 10 days a month and then three months you're not going it doesn't solve the purpose," she told News18. "You have to be consistent, whether you do a 20-minute workout, but do something. A lot of people make the mistake of focusing on workouts. When it comes to fitness, they instantly think of gyms. No, fitness starts at home and what you eat really matters."

Sonnalli's diet is healthy, but non-restrictive. "Now, people start thinking that I have to eat boiled food and I can't eat carbohydrates. As long as you're eating healthy, and your homemade food, not eating packaged food and anything that comes in a package or boxes is bad for you. So, you have to limit that, of course, don't stop living your life," she told News18. "You want to have a packet of chips once a month, please do that. But don't make it an everyday routine, that's where we fail, not only as a fitness thing but also in a race. So, I would say keeping your diet simple, keep your body mobile, agile, and keep eating healthy is the key."

The key to exercise is only doing stuff you love, per Sonnalli. "I would say don't choose a workout just because it has benefited your friend – like, oh this one has lost so many kilograms, so I will also do the same. You choose something that you enjoy, only then you would be able to stick to it. So, if you don't enjoy a workout then it won't be beneficial," she explained to News18. "If you don't enjoy gyms, then don't take a membership. You find out other ways. If you like to play cricket, or like dancing, or if you like to go for a run, or like cycling, do that. Pick up things that you enjoy and you stick to that. Be consistent. Consistency is discipline."

Healthy fats are a big part of Sonnalli's diet. "Almonds and walnuts soaked in water overnight and a sip of coconut oil," are her go-to breakfast. "I consider it very healthy," she told The Hindustan Times. "I eat a lot of fattening food, like good fat, like ghee, coconut oil and avocados. I would say that an unhealthy food item that I cannot resist will be cupcakes and cheesecakes."

Sonnalli avoids overeating. Instead she consumes "mini to mid-sized" meals. "I have migraine issues. So, I prefer frequent meals and I think all of us should listen to our bodies and see what works for us. If you are hungry you should not deprive your body of food. Mostly my meals contain a rice item — either dosas, pohas or parathas made of rice flour. If I'm having light meals especially before my workouts, then it's usually sweet potatoes and peanut butter or almond butter. My lunch is mostly same, lots of rice with ghee, fish and vegetables or salad," she told The Hindustan Times.

Sonnalli likes to strike a pose. Her go-to physical activity "is hands down, yoga, which all of my close ones know too. It's like the best drug for you," she told The Hindustan Times. She prefers the practice because it encourages strength and flexibility. "For Yoga, you don't need any equipment, you just need a mat. It helps in keeping my mind occupied and sane and the meditation that comes with Yoga really helps," she added to Her Zindagi
